rainbow warrior

rainbow warrior
I have finished a new embroidery pattern! It's called Rainbow Warrior and is inspired by Native American motifs and legends. I've always been fascinated with stories from different cultures and Native Americans have some of the best. Josh and I attended a Pow Wow last summer with our neighbor who is part Osage, it was really fun to see people from all different Indian tribes come together to celebrate their culture with traditional music, dance and food.
There is a story from the Cree tribe which says that "one day, because of the white mans' greed, there would come a time, when the fish would die in the streams, the birds would fall from the air, the waters would be blackened, and the trees would no longer be, mankind as we would know it would all but cease to exist." (sound familiar?)
At this time "Warriors of the Rainbow" will come to spread the message of healing, teach people how to again live the "Way of the Great Spirit", practicing Unity, Love and Understanding, and respect for the earth and all it provides.
I think that's just what we need, don't you? :)
Please read the whole story of the "Warriors of the Rainbow" right here!
So, this is my little tribute to the Warriors of the Rainbow. I hope more and more people become Rainbow Warriors and help make this world a better place. :)

This pattern was really fun to develop, and it is a great companion
to my animal totem patterns series.
I tried a new technique with this embroidery, color tinting on colored fabric. I like how it looks! The key to color crayon tinting is really to color very, very lightly. You can follow my color tinting tutorial to try it yourself. :) It's a great way to add a little more dimension to your stitchery.
You can find this, and all of my embroidery patterns in my shop: http://littledear.etsy.com
