I've had this project in mind (and the materials in my garage) since last summer, and I finally got around to finishing it! I loved this pebble mat from Chiasso and immediately thought it would be easy (and lots cheaper) to make one. It is! So, off to Lowe's where I bought a bag of river rocks and a $5 welcome mat. Throw in lots of E6000 glue, and voila! Here it is. It's easy to make, perfect to work on on a sunny day sitting in the driveway.
I love how river rocks are so many different colors. Before I started on my mat, I picked out rows of rainbow colors and glued them into this little frame I had. All natural colors! They really stand out grouped next to each other.
My only regret is that I don't live on a beach where I could collect my own rocks. ;)
