little red cover

I've been doing some personal work illustrating pages from Little Red Riding Hood. I'd love to illustrate some classic fairy tales (and get paid for it. ;)

These are painted in Photoshop with some embroidery, fabric and hand drawn embellishments added in.

These were fun to work on, I stuck with a very limited color palette and I like how they turned out a lot. I'm planning to do some Alice in Wonderland pages next with a similar style.

  1. I love lots of things about them - especially the colours on the last picture and the bullion roses. (I've just been doing those). Am also loving the quilt on the last picture. The pictures are all great, very striking. I love the texture mix.

  4. I love the combination of your painterly style and the embroidery. I also really like the limited color palates. I can't wait to see the Alice drawings you are planing. Alice is my favorite story... :)

  6. I would buy a book with these, love how the drawings tell the familiar story but in their own unique way. They are definitely not standard fairy tale drawings...

  7. These pages are gorgeous! I too would buy a book that was embellished like this. I hope you get an opportunity to do more of this type of thing too (and DEFINITELY get paid for it)!

  10. I love these and would certainly buy a book with your illustrations...my only advice (as a total non professional) is to add MORE embroidery! It really makes it all pop!! Thank you for sharing. Love it :)
