sketchy

sketchbook

I'm going to be sharing a few pages from some of my sketchbooks over the next few days, enjoy!

sketchbook

My sketchbook pages are often random, filled with bits and pieces and words, and lots of patterns. I'd love to hear your thoughts, or how your sketches compare!

  1. They are so good. I like the beech trees. I always find them so intriguing. As if they had eyes everywhere and are watching us little gnomes to make sure we do not stray from the right path. I love your work with acorns too. I cannot draw or paint, but I found stitchery and felt a lovely way to express myself. I feel very peaceful after I visit your blog. I like you feel quite atuned to nature and trees ( I often hug the giant pine tree on my backyard when I need some guidance). Have a lovely week. xo marcela

  3. Your sketchbook shows what a great artist you are! I line draw ing. and painting, but I usually use someone's else patterns. An artist creates, this is a very big difference. I admire you and your special drawings. There's something magic in them! Your works make me remember my childwhood and the cild that remains inside me. They are near my daughters'world. Thank you for this sharing! Katia.

  4. I love to see your drawings in your sketchbook. I love the nature element of your work, it's the aesthetic that appeals to me most personally. I also enjoy your fantasy work, like mermaids and ghosts birds. An other-worldly kind of feeling. Very evocative. Actually I love it all! I think you can really see the imagination and vision in your work. I especially like the top drawing and the man with antlers. He makes me think of things like the green man, which I know you have an embroidery pattern for.

I find it hard to compose a picture of different elements and somehow make it into a whole and complete thing. I tend to concentrate on one or two things but I would prefer to be much more illustrative of an idea. I'm working on it though. Visual imagination is quite hard for me.

    1. Thank you very much Sara! I sometimes find a lot more interest and connection with my sketch book pages than I do with my finished work. I think because they are random, not planned out and tend to incorporate lots of different things since I don't draw the whole page at once. Also I don't think about what they will look like when they are 'done', they are much more spontaneous, I'd like to capture more of that in my finished works. :)
