Here's something different but still somewhat creative that I do every day, make a green smoothie! I'm a total natural food nut and mostly vegan, so this is a staple of my diet. :) It may sound and look strange but they are really good! This one is a standard, and good for a green smoothie newbie.
Blend:
A BIG handful of spinach
two bananas
two or three oranges
half a bag frozen peaches
Flax seeds or nutritional yeast for extra vitamins (optional)
2-3 cups of water
I have a high powered blender that will grind up anything but if you have a regular one you might want to skip the seeds. You can make up your own smoothie recipes, I often use frozen berries (plus always bananas) or substitute kale for spinach.
Here's my smoothie! This one is very green. Berry ones are more of a murky brownish purple but they still taste great!
Like my newly acquired Muppet glass? I thought Kermit was appropriate. ;) In case you were wondering, I took these pics outside because the sun was going down and it was too dark inside! You can see I'm still growing a few greens in pots on my front walk.

That sounds great. I'll try it in my smoothie machine. Wonder how it would taste with mango nectar..
ReplyDeleteOh I am super stoked to learn about your favorite smoothie blogs. My husband and I have green smoothies virtually every morning (my grandma GAVE me her unused VitaMix. I know!) and I know this sounds dramatic, but it's changed my life. We primarily use kale, but now I must get some spinach to try your recipe.
ReplyDeleteHm...intriguing. I usually just mix a heaping scoop of Green Vibrance into V8 every day (and it DID change my life, too, LOL)! May have to try the smoothie thing.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have that same blender -and we make green smoothies. We just made peanut butter today. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteUmm..,it seems to look very wealthy, I will have to probe it :p, I like so much that kind of smoothies (my boyfriend doesn't, and he always looks at me like if I were a fool when I eat vegetables, lol....men, what could we expect from them...)
ReplyDeleteWell, I wanted to tell you that I already have an end stitched craft using your books, it's a diadem, I made it with a long zipper, and I thought that stitching it could result original, I used french stitch and threaded running stitch, and here is the result :D...hope you like it ;), it's my first job with your tecniques!! I'm happy :) (the photo of the diadem it's the last of all)

ReplyDeleteWe've been blenderless for months, but getting a new blender's at the top of my wish list for November and then I'm excited about trying some green smoothies. The picture pre-blending is so gorgeous! And yes, I do love the Muppet glass!!
