  2. Hi!
My favorite thing I've ever embroidered was a little owl on the corner of my pillowcase and a little squirrel on the corner of my fiance's. Those are our signature animals!

I love your designs, and I've always wanted to try them!!

  3. My favorite thing I have embroidered was tea towels I made with my twin daughters a couple of years ago; they were about 7 years old at the time!

  4. Oh, how wonderful!
I have not embroidered in awhile, but would love to start up again and learn more.
When I was in high school many years ago, it was all the rage to embroider rainbows and clouds on our army-like backpacks. Okay... yes, these were the hippy years of the early seventies! Very groovy!

  5. My fav was the Thinking pattern of yours, which I made for my niece. I did a few changes on the things in the hair to personalize it for her.

  6. I'm a newbie embroiderer, working on my first design -- a sampler, and I'm loving it so far. However, I did do an embroidery project in a High School home ec class . . . a pillowcase that I still have (some 20 years later!) . . . so maybe that would be my favorite project so far!

  7. I love to embroider, I think my fave is probably an apron that I made. I have a bunch of vintage transfers and especially love the fruits/veggies and kitchenware with personalities. For the apron I used a quirky little teacup with a face :)

  10. This is a really great idea! :) I haven't embroidered anything yet, at the moment I'm overtime crocheting to have enough stock for a craft fair stand I'm doing with my mom and grandma, but I've already decided my first project going to be a fat kitty. They're too cute! <3

  11. My favorite thing would probably be the pillowcases I did for a friend. The colors were very muted against the color of the pillowcase, giving a lot of subtle texture to the design.

  12. My favorite thing I've stitched was an illustration from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for a Phat Quarter swap. It was a ton of fun to do. I have your first book and would love to win the new one!

  21. My favorite thing ever are the hankies I stitched for the hubby with one of you little Doodle cats on the corner...kinda fits as we have a kitty named Doodle, which the hubby is crazy about. She is pictured in my profile! Doodle stitching has fired my love for embroidery! Congrats on the release of the new book.

  22. My favorite stitching that I've done is my tiny Toshiro Mifune embroidery. So small I put him on a button!

  23. Hooray! I've been looking forward to your new book!

My favorite thing I've ever embroidered is what I call my Thrift Find/Mushroom Girl. She was one side of a two-panel kit I found in a thrift store a few years ago. The other side was a boy with a mushroom, but he had already been partially stitched with yarn. I cut him off after trying to pick up where the previous crafter had left off (didn't like the yarn used) and decided to just stitch the girl.

It was one of my first "big" projects, and I love how she turned out. I've since used her on my business cards and am even considering turning her in to a tattoo ... we'll see! :)

  27. Hi there! Way back in the day, when I was still in 4-H, I made a sampler about the Bremen musicians. It was a big project, and I remember feeling really accomplished when I finished it because it took me the entire summer. Also, it was project that got me hooked on all things cross-stitch and embroidery related. Because of those reasons, it's probably my favorite bit of embroidery.

BTW, Average Jane Crafter, your mushroom project is so cute!

  28. My 8 year old daughter got your first book and a fully stocked "tool kit" from Santa last Christmas. This summer she made the baby and Mamma bear set for her Aunt who suffered, and survived, and Aortic Aneurysm while giving birth to her son. My nephew was born with a heart shaped birthmark on his foot and my daughter added that detail as well as her Aunt's surgery scar to the dolls. You can see them here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/36775835@N00/sets/72157625141419738/
Your book gave her the knowledge and skills!

  81. Hi Aimee! I'm so excited you're doing this! I LOVE all your artwork. I've pretty much just been lurking around your blog for the past month, but this gives me a good chance to finally post a comment! =)

I'm very new to embroidery, but I've cross stitched for a long time. I decided to start embroidery because I feel like it's just a much better creative outlet than cross stitch...though I believe xs has its merits too, especially the really detailed ones. I'm really starting to rack up on patterns and ideas but I think the top pattern that I would absolutely love to stitch would actually be your Thinking pattern. I'm obsessed with this pattern! It's so gorgeous! I would actually love to get it as a tattoo! =D

Thanks for inspiring me so much!

  109. My favorite is a toss up between the conjoined twins I did for the Craftster Hoopla Swap, or the set of "best friend charms" I made for my BFF and myself (you know, two halves of a heart, one with "BE FRI" and the other "ST ENDS".

  117. I learned to embroidery as a young girl from my grandmother. We would embroidery flour sack dish towels, to start and then moved on to hankies, and sachets. I finally took on the job of a small square tablecloth in cross stitch. I have been eying some needle work on felted knitting and wondering whether I should pick up the needle and hoop again. Congratulations on your published book. I saw it in Beverly's on Saturday.

  123. My favorite embroidery was a bear with a baloon, in cross stitch, the first one I ever did.
The back of it is so ugly and clumsy, so far away from what it's suppose to look like that someone else could hate it.
But me? I love it and have it since 1993. :)

    Thanks for the oppportunitty.

  133. I'm a newbie, so I have only a few works, made for friends and family. My favorite so far is the most recent (I guess I like it best because I felt more confident while stitching it): a framed embroidery I did for my newborn nephew, using your Ghost Birds pattern. :)

  134. I have recently started to embroider, because I had found some beautiful pieces that were created by my great great grandmother. Mostly old handkerchiefs and pillowcases, but it was so delicately put together. I would love to create lasting memories for my kids, grandchildren, and even great grand children, that they can enjoy as adults. Who knows, maybe we'll have a lineage of amazing embroiderers!

    Thanks for the opportunity :)

  136. Do you remember/know the old Popeye character "Eugene the Jeep" - when we moved to Germany my daughter - then 9 claimed there were no Jeeps in Germany (as in the vehicle) so as she has 2 teenaged brothers & her parents are smart aleks - every time we see a Jeep we point it out to her - then showed her a pic of Eugene & said Jeep - so I embroidered a pic of Eugene on the leg of her school pants.

  141. I just learned to embroider last year, and it is my favorite art hobby.
My favorite piece so far? hmmm. I think it may be my Dolly Dimples Diva - a vintage circus sideshow fat lady. I am also partial to my portrait of Albert Einstein with the fuzzy texture hair and mustache. He was one of my first pieces.

I would LOVE to work with the designs in your book and learn new techniques.

  147. My grandmother did a lot of embroidery and I learned a bit from her, but I am still a "newbie" by all standards. Like my grandmother, I would like to embellish some pillowcases and make a baby quilt. I am pulled between something cute and girly (for me) and trains (for my son). I bet there will be loads of good ideas in this book!

  154. Oh, wonderful! I'm so excited it's officially available now!

Gosh...I've embroidered enough to have forgotten a lot of what I've done. I really enjoyed a little soft-toy that I embroidered. A little girl that became a little doll. It was easier to stitch on woven fabric than the usual onsies and t-shirts I stitch for gifts.

  174. Hello talented, inspiring person. Very excited to read of your new book, and would love to have a copy. My favourite thing ever embroidered has to be -- oo, so hard to choose... toss-up between the Chinese lanterns and the ever-so-sweet, magical tree face. Both in your previous book. Chinese lanterns went onto a pillowcase, for my daughter, and the tree onto a pretty cloth that I framed as a gift for a dear friend. Love = work made visible. Thanks for helping me do this in a pleasurable, delightful way.
