Have you seen this book yet? I just got a copy and I am in love with it! I happen to have a few projects in it, but even if I didn't, this would definitely be a book I would want to own. ;)
Craft-a-Doodle is a book full of prompts and exercises to inspire you to live up to your full doodling potential. It contains lots of creative ideas and techniques you'll want to try out right away.
My projects show you how to create (and embroider) kaleidoscope doodles!
I highly recommend picking up this book if you are into doodling or sketchbooking/journalling at all, or just need a boost of creative inspiration. Check it out on Amazon.com for another peek inside or to order a copy, and start doodling!

I'm really interested in the book, but it's not out until October in the UK, I've pinned it so I don't forget that I want it. Love the example you are show today, it looks really helpful and a lot of fun. Repeating patterns don't come easily to me. I'm not mathematical at all (I used to think art had NOTHING to do with maths, but now I realise it can have an awful lot to do with it! I've got rubbish spatial awareness too.)
ReplyDeleteI've just five minutes ago finished your gypsy caravan pattern. I really do love it, it was such fun to do, I loved seeing the colours and textures getting added. I'll show you when I've made it into a wall hanging. Have to think about how to do it first though.
Thanks Sara! It is worth the wait, I really like this one. :) I'm no good at math either, I just made these up by eyeing them. I think math usually is difficult for most artists.
DeleteI'd love to see the gypsy caravan when you're done!
I bought your motifs book, and have been REALLY enjoying making cute kitchen towels. I decided to check out your blog, and saw this book. How funny---my neighbor from 2 streets over wrote it--Jenny Doh. I have never heard of this book, but will have to check it out at Barnes and Noble. I'm wondering if you will be making any more books of embroidery images? I LOVE your ideas. I'm going to check out your etsy further, etc. The sense of whimsy is just so adorable. I love that sort of thing----I work at Pottery Barn Kids part time for fun, so I guess I'm a kiddo at heart. I would love to teach some of the kids who shop at our store how to embroider. Until about 2 years ago, I taught crafts to the kids (it was a free service), and they LOVED it. They didn't want to go home!!! I'm hoping that my new boss will allow me to start doing it again because I want to make sure that the next generation is into crafts. I don't want it to die out. Thanks for "listening".
